Calathea are best kept in indirect light or shade - direct light will scorch their leaves. They like warm rooms and high humidity - they will benefit from regular misting or being grouped with other plants to create a microclimate. Feed during spring and summer and re-pot yearly in spring. They don't like their soil to get too dry so water once about half the pot of soil has dried.
